Expression of Interest: Market Stalls and Entertainers (Buskers) for New Years’ Eve

Byron Shire Council is calling for Expressions of Interest from market stallholders and community groups to operate on New Years Eve 2009/10. Market stalls and entertainment will operate in Apex Park near Main Beach in Byron Bay from 6pm to midnight, Thursday 31December 2009.

Expressions of interest are sought for market stalls, particularly those which feature local home made/ home grown or value added items.

Expressions of interest are also sought for buskers to perform during the evening, particularly from buskers which appeal to a broad range of audiences and are appropriate for families. Buskers may need to obtain a Busking Permit.

Stallholders Fees:

Food stalls $150
Craft stalls $80
Community Groups FREE

Busking Permit Fees:

One off application fee $20
Permit $26 per month OR
Permit $100 per annum

Invitation for Submission of Street Stall Dates 2010 for Byron Bay, Mullumbimby, Brunswick Heads and Bangalow

Interested organisations are invited to apply in writing for street stall allocations for Byron Bay, Mullumbimby, Brunswick Heads and Bangalow for the period 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2010.  In accordance with Council's Policy 5.36, a maximum of three (3) street stalls per organisation will be allowed and only organisations affiliated with the township concernedshall be allowed to conduct street stalls in that township.  Special consideration may be given to organisations with no specific affiliations e.g. the Royal Blind Society.

One application only shall be accepted from each organisation.  The application may also indicate second or third preferences for the date requested.  Please enclose a copy of your organisations Public Liability Insurance Policy with your application.

The Sale of Raffle Tickets

Consent to sell raffle tickets on the street no longer requires the permission of Council UNLESS a table or a display is necessary to promote the raffle.  The raffle then constitutes a street stall and Council consent is required.

Organisations interested in applying for street stall allocations should apply in writing to The General Manager, Byron Shire Council PO Box 219 Mullumbimby  NSW  2482.

Section 356 Donation Granted

Under Section 356 of the Local Government Act 1993 - "A council may, in accordance with a resolution of the council, contribute money or otherwise grant financial assistance to persons for the purpose of exercising its functions."

Council wishes to advise at its Ordinary meeting held on 22 October 2009 it resolved to grant the Byron Youth Service a donation of $200.00 to support their SNAP #2 photographic exhibition.

Amusement Rides for New Years’ Eve

Byron Shire Council is calling for Expressions of Interest from amusement ride operators to operate on New Years Eve 2009/10. Amusement rides will operate from late afternoon on Thursday 31 December 2009 to no later than 1am 1January, 2010.

Expressions of interest are invited that address the criteria as specified in Regulation 72 of the Local Government (General) Regulation 2005. Proof of all necessary registrations and licences should be submitted, including the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 2001 conditions (if any), log books and insurance details and details of each amusement ride proposed.

Fees: a fee is to be negotiated with any successful provider.

Public Exhibition: Filming on Council Owned and Controlled Land Policy

Council at its Extraordinary Meeting held on 15 October 2009 and Ordinary Meeting held on 22 October resolved to place the above Policiy on public exhibition for a period of 28 days for the making of public submissions.

Expression of Interest: Busking

At Council's Ordinary Meeting held on 22 October it resolved to call for expressions of interest for suitably qualified musicians and street performers to form a pool of mentors to act as adjudicators for busking approvals and periodically observe the busker to ensure compliance and give constructive, mentoring feedback to assist in the development of the artist, especially to young performers.

Any suitably qualified musicians and street performers wanting to express an interest in forming a pool of mentors are request to do so by the 17 December 2009, in writing including details of qualifications.  All expression of interests should be addressed to:
