A key project in the Federal Village Masterplan is an upgrade of the main street, Federal Drive, from Binna Burra Road to Coachwood Court.
A concept design was developed and reported to Council in December 2022. The concept design was based on technical advice and community consultation.
We are doing a final check-in with the community before a more detailed design is finalised.
Submissions on the Draft Concept Design have now closed.
The outcomes of this consultation will be presented to Council.
This project is not yet funded however we are continuing to seek grant funding.
About the Concept Plan

The Concept Plan has been reviewed by engineers to make sure the proposals are technically possible and complies with NSW traffic and road safety regulations.
Changes from the concept design to this more detailed plan are:
- Raising the pedestrian crossing in front of the general store. This will be a safer solution for pedestrians and help to slow vehicles on the main street.
- Car parking area on Roses Road to remain as is. An investigation into 90-degree parking at this location found that a large amount of earthworks, retaining and tree removal, would be required, which would not result in any additional parking spaces.
Other proposals to note:
- Footpath pavement in front of the shops to make the area accessible to all users. This may require removal of the palms directly in front of the shops.
- Roundabout at intersection of Binna Burra Road and Federal Drive. The aim is to make the roundabout as small as possible while meeting road safety requirements. A set of design criteria for the roundabout is also included which will inform the design.
- Footpath widths are 1.5m for the majority of the street to maximise accessibility.
- Carparking near the tennis court to remain informal and gravel, as requested by the community in the initial consultation.T
