Events and Festivals Sponsorship Fund

Applications for the Events and Festivals Sponsorship fund 2025 are now closed!

The successful applicants are:

  • Old and Gold Festival $3,000
  • Byron Coastal Charity Walk $4,500
  • Kaleido Mullumbimby $5,500
  • Byron Bay International Film Fest $5,500
  • Disco Ball $5,000
  • Heaps Good Open Mic $2,500

This grant aims to support local events and festivals that:

  • Have a positive impact on our environment and prioritise sustainability in event planning.
  • Make a positive difference to our cultural and diverse community, enhancing creativity, stories and expression.
  • Maximise benefits for local business and economies and increase social benefits for residents.

Step 3.What happens after applications close?

Applications will be assessed by the panel. 

Winners announced late December 2024.

Selection criteria

Applicants must:

  • Have adequate Public Liability of $20,000 million.
  • Reside within the Byron Shire 
  • Obtain relevant approvals and consent for the event if required.
  • Comply with Councils Single Use Packaging and Materials Policy

 Applications must also meet one of the following outcomes:

Step 1.Positive environmental outcomes

  • Increase effective waste management 
  • Reduce energy consumption 
  • Increase efficiency of water usage 
  • Implement sustainable transport 
  • Improve biodiversity management.

Step 2.Positive social outcomes

  • Events that connect community and enable community expression
  • Events that offer positive value for residents of all ages and abilities
  • Events that enable First Nations representation
  • Events that enhance the indigenous, heritage, artistic and cultural diversity of Byron Shire
  • Events that consider accessible venues or use an accessible location

Step 3.Positive economic outcomes

  • Events that address seasonality and fill gaps during off-peak and shoulder season
  • Events that activate local businesses and the night-time economy
  • Events that align to (and activate) the unique identity and character of each community
  • Events that contribute to building an inclusive and vibrant community
