Councillor Jack Dods was elected in October 2024.

Cr Dods was elected to the position of Deputy Mayor for the next 12 months at the 10 October 2024 Council Meeting.

Councillor Jack Dodds

Jack is a designer with degrees in architecture and urban design. He is dedicated to enhancing Byron Shire's built environment.

Born and raised in Bangalow, Jack brings local knowledge and expertise to Council, with professional experience in masterplanning, building design, urban design, and town planning consulting. Since 2018, he's served on multiple Council committees, including the Housing & Affordability Committee and the Byron Town Centre Masterplan Group.

Jack champions community-focused solutions, prioritising affordable, diverse, and sustainable housing, walkability, green transport, and well-connected communities. He leads initiatives promoting good urbanism, quality architecture, mental health, and wellbeing through his roles with organisations Street Level Australia and Thinking Positive Australia.

Jack is passionate about where he grew up and believes in local government that serves local people. He's committed to addressing the housing crisis, advancing place making, and creating vibrant community spaces.

Jack lives in Ewingsdale with his wife Elisa, who is a doctor and works as a GP in Byron Bay.
