A safe, healthy and happy new year.  That’s the wish from Byron Shire Mayor, Sarah Ndiaye, for 2025.

The New Year Soul Street celebrations in Byron Bay were dominated by families making the most of a beautiful evening on the 31 December, kicking back and relaxing on a perfect, balmy summer night.

Musicians and bands kept the toes tapping and people grooving at Denning Park while the twilight markets, face painters and street performers were the perfect way to idle away a couple of hours as the sun went down.

“The weather was amazing and I hear there was a wonderful atmosphere and smiles, hugs and kisses all around when the clock ticked past midnight for the arrival of 2025,” Mayor Ndiaye said.

“Many thanks to the organisers of Soul Street, market operators, the police and everyone involved in making sure that New Year’s Eve celebrations in Byron Bay were joyous and most importantly safe.

“A special shout-out to our staff who worked across the holiday period, and who started work in the early hours on 1 January to have everything cleared and cleaned up by 7am,” Mayor Ndiaye said.

“I am very much looking forward to working with Councillors, staff and our wonderful community in 2025,” she said.
