Lot 12 Bayshore Drive – Roundabout Construction

  • Project value$2.4 million
  • Project scheduleDecember 2024 to early September 2025

Construction of a new roundabout on Bayshore Drive, Byron Bay (at the intersection of the access road to the new TAFE and the IGA Shopping complex at Sunrise, in the Byron Arts and Industry Estate.), will start in February 2025.

This part of the project includes the setup of temporary roundabouts on Bayshore Drive at the intersections of Centennial Circuit and Sunrise Boulevard.

A slip lane on Lot 12 Bayshore Drive has been built, to ensure two lanes of traffic remain open for the majority of the roundabout construction.

This project is part of the development of a 5.8 hectare Council-owned block of land known as Lot 12 Bayshore Drive.

Work includes

  • Roundabout
  • Foot paths and replacement of existing footpaths
  • Garden beds
  • Replacing broken kerbs and gutters
  • Lighting
  • Water and sewer infrastructure for new development.

What to expect

  • Work times – Monday to Friday between 7am and 5pm.
  • Noise – Machinery noise including drilling and vacuum excavation.
  • Restricted access/temporary closures – Traffic control, electronic message boards and signage will be in place throughout the project to keep the community informed and manage access (including deliveries). Note: during the final stage of the project, expected in August/September 2025, traffic access may need to be reduced to one lane.
