Expressions of Interest from farmers interested in taking part in the Slow the Flow project closed on 16 October.

We will now review the applications and let successful applicants know the outcome in November 2024.

About Slow the Flow Project

Slow the Flow is a project designed to:

  • Give farmers the skills and knowledge to understand and track their soil health
  • Support farmers to put in place on-farm soil improvement activities
  • Provide opportunities for farmers to share and learn from each other.

Participants will get training on how to:

  • Self-assess and understand their farms soil health.
  • Use a soil monitoring app, to record and understand their data and observations over a 2-year period.
  • Develop a soil health activation plan, with each farm will receive up to $2000 towards soil improvement activities.

They will also:

  • Attend a series of webinars and on-farm workshops.
  • Receive ongoing support, education, and shared learning with other farmers.

To be eligible you must

  • Be a primary producer in the Byron Shire local government area.
  • Currently run agricultural or horticultural activities on your farm.
  • Be willing to engage and partake in project activities for the life of the project (2 years from November 2024 – November 2026).
