Where does pay parking money go?
Pay parking is a parking management initiative designed to improve availability of car parking spaces.
It has generated more than $11 million (after operating costs) over the last four financial years to 30 June 2020, an average of $2.8 million a year.
The amounts received fluctuate from year to year depending on demand and as Council makes adjustments to parking in response to local needs. COVID-19 has had a negative impact on pay parking revenue.
Pay parking is located on:
- Council-owned land and roads
- Crown land owned by the State Government.
