Flying-fox Camp Management Plan

Byron Shire is home to 20 camps that host the national population of Flying-foxes. These camps are where they roost in the day to rest from their commute around the country.

The Flying-fox Camp Management Plan provides a framework for Council to act on community concerns about flying-foxes while protecting the threatened species and wildlife.

We recently requested feedback on the Draft Flying-fox Camp Management Plan 2024-2029.

You can review the draft plan in 2 parts:

• Part A – objectives, local indigenous input, species profile, camp overview, heat stress strategy, legislation, health updates and actions.(PDF, 2MB)
• Part B – camp areas and surrounding vegetation, other relevant matters related to the land and surrounding areas.(PDF, 15MB)

Feedback closed Thursday 22 February 2024.

All feedback and a final plan will be reported to Council in mid 2024.
