Feedback on the proposal to change the Byron Local Environmental Plan 2014, to include business and industrial lands for part of 66 The Saddle Road, Brunswick Heads has now closed.
Key changes
- Rezone part of the Rural Landscape area to General Industrial and Productivity Support zones.
- Other parts to be rezoned to C2 Environmental Conservation and C3 Environmental Management. Existing C2 and C3 zones remain unchanged.
- An ‘additional permitted use’ is proposed for work/live development in the Productivity Support zone.
- The proposal includes a Planning Agreement. It requires the applicant to upgrade the infrastructure.
- This proposal aligns with our Business and Industrial Lands Strategy for Area 5: Gulgan North.
Draft Development Control Plan
A Draft Development Control Plan (DCP) for the site will address building design and general site requirements.
This exhibition includes parts of this DCP. We will exhibit the full DCP at a later date.

For this planning proposal, Council is not authorised to act as the local plan-making authority. This is because the planning proposal seeks to apply a C zone to land to which the Northern Councils E Zone Review applies.
